BATTLE FOR STARFALL

Battle for Starfall is the first ever online campaign for Mantic Games‘ hugely popular sci-fi skirmish game, Deadzone! Over the course of the next few weeks, gamers from around the world will have the opportunity to fight it out to see what faction will claim the planet.

At the end of the campaign, the Deadzone universe will be changed depending upon the results. Factions could get new weapons, new units or even new leaders. What’s more, the timeline of Deadzone will be moved on following the campaign and we’ll release new short stories based on what happens in YOUR games.

The overall aim of the campaign is for factions to take control of the now resource rich planet Starfall. This is the main Campaign Goal (A) and the winner is determined as the faction that controls the most locations on the planet at the campaign end.
Should there be no clear location majority control, the Planet Influence chart (see Supplementary Charts below) is used to determine who takes ultimate control of Starfall.

SECTOR: Delta

SECTOR INTEL:
This sector acts as gateway to Starfall’s primary landing zones infrastructure.

KEY LOCATION:
Command Post Delta
A town-sized command complex with good defensive structures and dedicated communications centre.

SECTOR: Hellion Edge

SECTOR INTEL:
The Hellion Edge reaches from the flat north to straddle the cavernous ridges running across the equator. Also home to the largest towns and cities before the recent seismic activity.

KEY LOCATION:
Devil’s Run
A small, remote and semi-ruined town on the western edge of the sector.

SECTOR: Xalos North

SECTOR INTEL:
Running along the northern edge of the Xalos Trench, the canyon-scape that runs along Starfall’s equator, the North sector is home to the mining facilities setup when Starfall revealed its previously dormant resources.

KEY LOCATION:
Mining Facility J28
The main mining facility established by Damrod, it is a heavy industrial and mechanised location.

SECTOR: Skarran Plains

SECTOR INTEL:
East of the industrial hub lies a vast desert plain, pockmarked with craters from ages past. It’s a desolate landscape remarkable only by the mountain that rises on its eastern border.

KEY LOCATION:
Fort Skar
A battered barracks complex at the foot of the Skarran Spire mountain, the fort is controlled by Marauders led by a notorious Captain Curtz.

SECTOR: Callan Reserve

SECTOR INTEL:
The Callan Scientific Reserve is like much of Starfall, arid and desert-like, but its strange crater formations attracted previous scientific interest, but for what purpose was always unknown.

KEY LOCATION:
Mazon Compound – MAZ-1049
A ruined and dispairing science facility comprised of long disused laboratory blocks that still show marks of what happened here.

SECTOR INTEL:
Starfall Gate is home to the primary landing zones on the planet due the naturally flat expanse of the desert and its connection to the other sectors.

KEY LOCATION:
Delta Landing Zone
The last of the landing zones to not be ruined from the extensive fighting during the campaign. As the planet becomes unstable it’s the last location from which to make your escape…

This chart displays the current overall, planetary influence of each Faction and is used to break a tiebreak if there is no Location Majority at the end of the campaign.
